The Challenge

Shoshin Works and Convergent Aeronautics Solutions under the Aeronautics Research Mission Directorate (ARMD) at NASA tasked us with no less than predicting the next 50 years of innovation with the goal of understanding potential pathways in in-orbit aerospace, to inform future investment and research directions.

Our Approach

Combining human expert research through interviews, along with extensive open source intelligence gathering from patents, financials, investment data, scholarly papers, news, and social media, we conducted a deep research project. This was integrated with a large-scale open innovation program, allowing us to develop a wide array of scenarios for review.

Business Impact

The varied scenarios and potential innovation pathways provided the client with unique foresight, helping them shape their long-term investment and research strategies. This forward-looking approach places NASA at the forefront of the next generation of aerospace innovation.
