Preparing for life on Mars
Two year research project to help NASA identify political, societal, technological, environmental, legal and ethical innovations develop a theoretical model for settlements on Mars.
Bootstrapped the development of an open source intelligence application to source, normalize and analyze publicly available information.
Developed market leading natural language processing capabilities to create research ontologies, perform sentiment analysis and correlation analysis to provide insights to inform further research.

A.I. Operations vs. Labor Arbitrage in Shared Services
Developed and championed a product of AI-augmented operations to reduce cost and improve performance.
Challenges: Heavy human cost base operation. Huge cost pressure from flagship client. Strong internal resistance around a change to existing revenue model.
Success: Identified and implemented digital levers for transformation. AI and automation was implemented for low complexity tasks. Human effort was then re-focused on value add activities requiring high levels of EQ.
Productising Data Science
I I lead a team of statisticians and data scientists in the production of a data model to predict customers' payment behaviour to manage and maximise cash flow.
Supervised and unsupervised machine learning, using Random Forest and regression algorithms.
Models produced 97% accuracy using more than 20 features in a highly unpredictable market environment.
The solution enabled cash acceleration on a $1.5BN portfolio of assets. Overcame a traditional reliance on gut feel and subjective performance review by using data science and machine learning.

As site leader at GE Manchester, I developed a strategy and set of cultural behaviours to help the Manchester site thrive and survive in the face of competition from lower cost locations.
Challenges: Disjointed group of teams on site. Persistent pressure / rumours of a move to different location
Success: Established firm foothold in Manchester by mobilising the teams around 3 cultural imperatives; "Become an Innovation Lab", "Horizontal Leadership" and "Transparency at all times". Consistently recognised by senior GE leaders as a flagship site and birthplace of many innovation projects that propagated into the world of GE.
Redefining Learning & Development
As Global Learning and Development leader for GE Global Ops, enabled the digitisation and productization of the L&D function.
Challenges: Inherited a team with long service and embedded behaviours. Learning delivery was outdated and partially ineffective. Changing generational needs around consumption of learning were not being met.
Success: Drove adoption of AI-based knowledge management tools, digital delivery and knowledge sharing solutions. Implemented provided proof of concepts for AR and VR learning technologies and designed a gamified online learning service to increase engagement and knowledge retention.
Future-scaping our Skies
In conjunction with the NASA Advanced Research Mission Directorate, I developed a crowd-sourcing program to map out the next 50 years of in-atmosphere aeronautics.
Performed over one hundred interviews with experts in and on the periphery of the aviation industry, Assimilated the insights into data points to inform research, investments, and partnership strategy.
Ran a well-publicised open innovation competition to source ideas and narratives for the future of aviation from the crowd.
